Today let's sew up this really pretty Calgary Stampede quilt block. It is much easier to put together than it looks! The traditional coloring for the block is monochromatic (a dark and a medium) with a light background. But I saw flowers in the corners so I had to change up the coloring.
When I shared this Sampler quilt with my email list, they wanted to know which blocks I used. So this tutorial will go through each of the 12 blocks and the sashing and borders.
Today let's piece together this scrappy version of the easy Broken Dishes quilt block. The block traditionally is completely done with scraps but looks great with only two colors - just make sure you have a lot of contrast between the colors.
As Valentine's Day is just around the corner, here's another scrappy Heart quilt block. This block is easy and goes together fast. I'm also including fabric requirements for 6", 8", 10" and 12" blocks!
Recently I realized I had 12 orphan blocks (also known as UFOs) that would go together in a scrappy-looking sampler quilt. The only problem was that six of them were 8" or 9" blocks and six were 12". My solution was to add to the smaller blocks to make them 12" so they would all fit easily into a quilt top. In keeping with the sampler theme, they all had to be different, so here goes!
