Let’s dive into the steps and start sewing!
This design came from my friend Awyn and she used it a lot for charity quilts and last minute baby gifts. She passed away this year so I thought it was fitting to share her pattern with you. The pattern is basically a series of borders around a center square or rectangle - the fabrics take center stage!

Step 11:

Third Border
Step 12:
Repeat Steps 1 through 5 only substituting the Green 1.5" x 24.5" strips in place of the 16.5" long strips.
Fourth Border:
Step 13:
Repeat Steps 6 through 11 only substituting the Gold 3.5" x 24.5" strips for the Crazy Plaid 16.5" strips.
Fifth Border:
Step 14:
To complete the quilt, repeat Steps 1 through 5 only substituting the Green 1.5" x 32.5" strips for the Green 16.5" ones.
Quilt Layout Ideas:
Here's an example of how you can easily change the pattern up. The Fourth Border is wider (I think it's 5" wide) than the Second Border and the color placement is different. The last border is also omitted.
In this version, the center is a rectangle instead of a square and the Fourth Border is wider.
The fabrics really do make this quilt. Here's what holiday fabrics could look like.
Conclusion:
This little quilt pattern is sew easy and quick to put together. It really showcases the fabrics used. It is especially nice to use with panels because we all know that panels are rarely sized right for making a pieced border! I have made this as large as a throw and was pleased with how it looked. You can change up the color placement, width of the borders and even the number of borders - making it a very versatile pattern!
